How might audiences respond to the way Kim Kardashian represents gender?

How might audiences respond to the way KK represents gender? Kim Kardashian:Hollywood game can either be received as a preferred reading or a negative one, this could be interpreted as a negative one by feminists, however positive to post-feminists. Feminists may believe that the way that women are portrayed in Kim Kardashian:Hollywood is in an untasteful and shallow manner. Through the games motives; becoming more famous, and earning money to purchase luxury items, this creates the impression of women being materialistic. In addition feminists would argue that the male gaze theory is in play throughout the game due to the single ideal body shape on offer, as well as the avatars being very glamorous and heavily made up in makeup. When picking the avatars features, a single body shape can only be selected as well as feminine qualities. Furthermore women can be pictured as gold diggers, the use of the tagline ‘date someone famous to get more famous’ suggests that females are expec...

Feminism in Kim Kardashian:Hollywood game

Feminism In Kim Kardashian’s Game Feminism: Feminism is equality of women and men. Post feminism: equality exists, women are empowered, confident making their own choices. Which stereotypes feature in the game and how would they appeal to the target audience? Stereotypical girls want to appear well groomed and look good, this can be through makeup/clothes/hair, they could also want a boyfriend. A countertype is created for male users for it isn't stereotypically seen for men to like fashion and look good. A stereotype towards the female boss is that she's bossy, direct and can come across masculine, demanding of the staff. A countertype for men is the male boss who is easy going, calm, manners, respectful. How might feminists or post-feminists respond to this text? (the way men and women are represented in the game?) Feminists could see women in the game as materialistic, gold diggers; encouraging women to have rich boyfriends. Post feminists however could see that...

How does the representation of women compare across KK and Zoella

How does the representation of women compare across KK and Zoella social media pages? Zoella and Kim Kardashian portray an extremely different representation of women, zoella focusing on innocence and ‘the girl next door’ tone whereas Kim focuses on a more sexy and glamorous one. On the landing page of Zoella’s website multiple pictures ranging from wide shots to close shots are used, an array of pastel colours are added to these images creating a feminine and soft tone, this creates the impression of  a stereotypical girl, due to the colours mostly being identified as ‘girly’. Furthermore a wide shot of the youtuber is featured on the landing page, she is pictured laughing with glasses and a messy half bun, this contradicts the female stereotype and instead implies to the audience that women can be laid back, casual and not put a lot of effort into their appearance. On the other hand Kim Kardashians landing page features a mid shot of Kim looking very stylish and attractive...
